400,000-Tonne-Per-Year SAF Project Moves Forward in Hebei

Release time : 2026-08-26 Source :Organizing Committee

The acceptance information for a proposed 400,000-tonne-per-year sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) hydrogenation project developed by Zhongneng Yida (Hebei) New Energy Co., Ltd. was publicly disclosed.

The project will be located in Shenze County, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, with a total investment of RMB 1.85388 billion. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.

Project Overview

Covering an area of approximately 230 mu, the project will include a 400,000-tonne-per-year SAF hydrogenation unit, a supporting 30,000 Nm³/h hydrogen production unit, and a combined sulfur recovery complex.

The sulfur recovery facilities will include a 12-tonne-per-hour sour water stripping unit and a 200-tonne-per-year sulfur recovery unit, together with supporting utility systems.

The project will use used cooking oil, acidified oil, fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), waste animal and vegetable oils, and other feedstocks to produce SAF, biodiesel and bio-naphtha. By-products will include dry gas, bio-liquefied petroleum gas (bio-LPG) and sulfur.

Annual Production Capacity

The project's planned annual output includes:

SAF: 315,700 tonnes

Bio-naphtha: 21,000 tonnes

Biodiesel production will vary depending on the plant's operating mode. When the facility operates at maximum SAF production, biodiesel output will be zero. Under the maximum biodiesel production mode, annual biodiesel output will reach 340,800 tonnes.

The project is also expected to produce the following annual quantities of by-products:

Dry gas: 7,900 tonnes

Bio-LPG: 19,500 tonnes

Sulfur: 72 tonnes

The project is designed to integrate SAF production with supporting hydrogen production and related processing facilities, forming an integrated production system for sustainable aviation fuel and associated products.
