1,500 Hydrogen-Powered Heavy-Duty Trucks Planned Under Cooperation Agreement as First 30 Vehicles Delivered

Wuhan, August 30, 2026 — Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles and Anjie Chudao held a delivery ceremony in Wuhan for the first batch of 30 domestically developed hydrogen-powered tractor trucks.

The delivery marks the transition of the partnership from pilot deployment to larger-scale commercial operations and represents further progress in Dongfeng’s hydrogen business. Wang Jun, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, attended the ceremony.

Earlier this year, Dongfeng Auto Trade signed a cooperation agreement with Anjie Chudao covering the promotion and deployment of 1,500 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks. The planned vehicle lineup includes tractor trucks, cargo trucks, dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks and water trucks for a range of operating applications.

Supported by a hydrogen refueling network described as “three routes and 19 stations,” as well as Dongfeng’s technical capabilities, the two companies plan to develop an integrated hydrogen operation model covering vehicles, roads, energy and services. The cooperation aims to support regular commercial operations of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks across Hubei’s highway network.

Hydrogen has been identified as a priority area for future industrial development under China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan. As a centrally administered state-owned enterprise, Dongfeng is working with local governments and industry partners to advance the development of the hydrogen value chain, covering production, storage, transportation, refueling and end-use applications.

Liu Licheng, General Manager of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, said the cooperation combines Dongfeng’s independently developed fuel-cell stack technology with Anjie Chudao’s real-world operating scenarios to further improve vehicle energy efficiency and reliability. He added that closer coordination among the participating parties would support the development of hydrogen applications in Hubei.

Wang Qibing, General Manager of Anjie Chudao, said the company will continue improving supporting hydrogen infrastructure and accelerate the deployment of the planned 1,500 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks.

Dongfeng has developed a hydrogen power product platform covering outputs from 20 kW to 400 kW following years of technology development and application experience. Its cumulative sales of hydrogen-fueled vehicles have exceeded 9,000 units, with operations spanning more than 40 cities across China.

The company is also leading the development of a cross-regional hydrogen highway demonstration corridor linking Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu. According to its product roadmap, Dongfeng plans to achieve large-scale production of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks by 2027.
