SHANGHAI, September 15th — Estonian clean tech firm Elcogen officially announced a deepened partnership with Shanghai Hyenergy Technology Co., Ltd. ("Hyenergy Technology") to accelerate the commercial deployment of solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies in China. The two parties executed supply agreements for their initial megawatt-scale project order while concurrently advancing the construction of multiple large-scale demonstration projects.

The collaboration builds on a six-year relationship that was elevated in March 2026, when Elcogen Sales Director Hannu Anttila visited Shanghai to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hyenergy Technology CEO Wang Jianqiang. The MOU established a long-term cooperation framework focused on the domestic commercialization of SOEC and SOFC technologies. Under the agreement, Hyenergy Technology is responsible for integrating Elcogen's cells, stacks, and module products into its proprietary energy systems, with Elcogen providing technical support to facilitate system integration and commercial scaling.

To execute on this mandate, Hyenergy Technology sent a team to Elcogen's headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia, in June 2026. The technical exchange focused on technology adaptation, operational scenarios, and project development, transitioning the framework agreement into concrete commercial projects. Executing the initial megawatt-scale supply contracts signals the formal entry of Elcogen's solid oxide technology into China's commercial-scale application phase.

The partnership leverages complementary technical strengths: Elcogen supplies high-performance solid oxide cells, stacks, and core modules, while Hyenergy Technology contributes expertise in system integration, engineering deployment, and industrial scale-up. Combining their technical capabilities, the companies plan to build a standardized, scalable solid oxide module platform. The technology targets green hydrogen production, combined heat and power, and energy storage applications, leveraging high efficiency and operational flexibility to expand diversified hydrogen usage scenarios across China.
