XI’AN, China — Construction has begun on the R&D and manufacturing base for solid-state hydrogen storage equipment developed by Xi'an 1908 New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a ceremony marking the start of renovation work recently held at Workshop B2 of the Shaanxi Hydrogen Energy Quality & Technology Innovation Base.

Covering approximately 2,000 square meters, the new facility will include standard industrial workshops and office space. The facility is scheduled to begin operations by the end of August.
The project will establish production lines for metal-based composite solid-state hydrogen storage materials and solid-state hydrogen power products, both designed to operate at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. It will also support related R&D activities, including experimental trials, testing and inspection.
By integrating R&D, manufacturing and testing capabilities, the facility aims to accelerate the commercialization and large-scale application of solid-state hydrogen storage technologies, helping move the technology from laboratory research toward industrial deployment.
The project is located within the Shaanxi Hydrogen Energy Quality & Technology Innovation Base, described as the first integrated quality technology innovation platform in Northwest China covering the full hydrogen industry chain. The platform focuses on technological development across hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling and end-use applications.
The innovation base is also developing a one-stop quality infrastructure service platform for the hydrogen industry, providing technical and quality services across the industry chain and throughout the lifecycle of hydrogen-related products and technologies. It aims to support the high-quality development of Shaanxi’s hydrogen industry and strengthen the region’s capabilities in hydrogen energy quality technology innovation.
