Sinopec ZTHC Energy Project Discloses Electrolyzer Test Acceptance Data: A Technological Watershed Moment for the Green Hydrogen Equipment Market

On August 7th, the alkaline electrolyzer provided by QINGQIJI for Sinopec's ZTHC Energy Green Hydrogen Project completed full-process empirical acceptance testing at a third-party facility. Observed by multiple stakeholder organizations, the equipment delivered exceptional performance across all indicators, signaling that China's alkaline electrolyzers have officially entered the "3.0 era" for comprehensive energy consumption.

Test results demonstrated that at a rated current density of 4,000 A/m2, the direct current (DC) power consumption reached 3.98 kWh/Nm3H2 under the current method and 4.15  kWh/Nm3H2 under the flowmeter method—substantially outperforming the industry baseline, which typically exceeds 4.6 kWh/Nm3H2. The equipment passed all multi-dimensional evaluations, including load regulation, on the first attempt. These performance metrics achieve the 2028 equipment energy consumption policy goals set by four Chinese government ministries nearly four years ahead of schedule.


As Sinopec's second 10,000-tonne green hydrogen development, the ZTHC Energy project applied stringent acceptance criteria, with non-compliant equipment subject to direct rejection—making this trial a critical benchmark for the industry. As a leading startup in the green hydrogen sector, QINGQIJI develops and manufactures its own core components, including catalysts and bipolar plates, achieving a 68% self-sufficiency rate. Boasting thousands of hours of field‑operation experience from the Yumen Oilfield project, it has had all bidding‑phase technical targets fully validated by actual measurements. 


This energy efficiency directly translates into substantial project revenue. For a 30,000‑tonne‑per‑annum green hydrogen project, this electrolyzer yields electricity cost savings of more than RMB 900 million across its 20‑year operating cycle.
