CHANGCHUN — On August 31th, the next-generation fuel cell stack independently developed by FAW Jiefang passed third-party testing and certification by CATARC New Energy Vehicle Inspection Center (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. The stack successfully completed technical validation across three key dimensions: volumetric power density, low-temperature cold start performance, and hydrogen utilization efficiency.

On technical metrics, the fuel cell stack features metal bead seals, variable-section Venturi flow fields, and asymmetric manifold port designs. It achieves a peak volumetric power density of 9.5 kW/L (at an average voltage of 0.6V) and a rated volumetric power density exceeding 8 kW/L (at an average voltage of 0.65V), satisfying integration requirements for both commercial and passenger vehicles. Leveraging a low-heat-capacity structural design and advanced low-temperature control strategies, the stack achieves a unassisted cold start from -40°C in under 180 seconds, quickly scaling to a stable rated power output. Furthermore, by restructuring the anode multi-stage distribution flow field and optimizing the catalyst-coated membrane (CCM) and gas diffusion layer (GDL) matching, the stack operates stably in 60% hydrogen concentration environments, achieving a hydrogen utilization rate of 99.9%.
