China Completes First Scaled Trans-Regional Transport of Civilian Liquid Hydrogen

TIANJIN — CATARC Hydrogen Energy, Risun Hydrogen Energy, and Aerospace Chenguang have jointly completed China's first scaled trans-regional transport of civilian liquid hydrogen. The liquid hydrogen was originate in Dingzhou, transported via public highways by dedicated liquid hydrogen transport equipment to Dongli District, Tianjin — completing an end-to-end operational chain spanning liquid hydrogen loading, highway transit, station receiving, and boil-off gas (BOG) management.

The delivered liquid hydrogen will supply CATARC Hydrogen Energy's liquid hydrogen storage and supply system testing platform and support joint fuel cell system testing, providing critical technical evaluation for liquid hydrogen equipment and systems.

Connecting Hebei's liquid hydrogen supply capacity with Tianjin's testing and validation infrastructure, this transport operation bridges key value chain links across "production, storage, transport, refueling, and utilization." The engineering initiative validated the feasibility of highway transport equipment, operational protocols, and safety control frameworks for civilian liquid hydrogen — accumulating empirical data and practical experience for cross-regional allocation, road safety management, and standards development across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
