BEIJING — September 2026 — Shunyi District in Beijing has officially put its first oil-hydrogen-electric comprehensive energy station into operation, adding hydrogen refuelling and EV charging to an existing conventional fuel station.

The station was upgraded from CNPC Dongshun Benteng Gas Station in Mapo Town, filling a gap in hydrogen refuelling capacity for fuel-cell vehicles in Shunyi and enabling one-stop energy services for multiple types of vehicles.

Located on the west side of Jingmi Road in Mapo Town, the station covers a total area of 13,334 square meters. It retains conventional fuel dispensing services while adding hydrogen refuelling and electric vehicle charging facilities, allowing gasoline-powered vehicles, battery-electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles to access energy services at the same site.

The dedicated hydrogen refuelling area covers approximately 1,600 square meters and has a designed hydrogen refuelling capacity of 1,000 kg over 12 hours. The station can serve 60 to 100 hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles per day.

All hydrogen refuelling equipment was built in accordance with national safety standards to support safe and stable operations.

The station also has 12 EV charging points, including two ultra-fast charging guns and 10 fast-charging guns. Physical firewalls separate the charging, conventional fuel dispensing and hydrogen refuelling areas to reduce operational safety risks.

“Shunyi has relatively well-developed infrastructure for conventional fuels and EV charging, but the shortage of hydrogen refuelling facilities has constrained the adoption of fuel-cell vehicles,” said Huang Jinglun, head of the Energy Operations Division of the Shunyi District Urban Administration Commission.

“The upgrade addresses this gap in the vehicle energy supply system, builds a diversified energy service ecosystem and supports the high-quality development of local green and low-carbon industries,” Huang said.
